Has anyone rented a car through Turo before? I’m going to be in Los Angeles for a long weekend and was looking to rent a sports car on the cheap. Based on what I’ve seen I could get a Mustang, 3 Series, A3, A4, Challenger, Camaro, etc for around $50-80 a day.

A pair of GT-Rs for your time:

I rented from them when they were relayrides. Its great :)

Just keep in mind that you have the option of paying for insurance that amounts to either 25% or 50% of your daily rental through Turo.

I would prefer to take this because most insurance companies & credit card policies don’t consider Turo a rental company. So if anything happens, you don’t want to be on the hook for all the damages. Or you can check with your insurance company.

Another thing to watch for is some of these cars now have the ability to limit features like top speed and things of that nature I once rented a convertible Mustang (enterprise) but because the MyFord system allows them to play with settings I could only turn the radio up to 60% which was not enough to cover the wind noises with the top down and it was limited to 80 miles an hour which honestly is not so bad except that I wasn’t warned and when I merge onto a 70 mile-an-hour Highway I hit that 80 mile an hour limiter like a brick wall and almost got in an accident.

Rented a Boxster S at SFO through them last year for Rennsport for $160/day. Keep the additional insurance cost in mind when looking but even then it was half of renting one from Hertz or the like. Kept me a little more puckered up about getting any dings or scratches the whole weekend but nothing happened.
